In 2004, Samantha Morshed started Hathay Bunano, a non-profit fair trade organisation in Bangladesh. Through a local NGO she invited 12 young women to her home in Dhaka, Bangladesh and taught them to knit in her spare room. In 2009, with more than 2000 women working in rural production centres around the country and inclusion of crèche facilities and pre-schools where possible, our founder, Samantha Morshed was honoured with MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) from the Queen for her services to the rural poor women of Bangladesh.
Their mission is to create fairly paid, good quality, flexible and local employment for rural women who are poor and often disadvantaged. When you purchase a Pebble product, you are helping poor women in Bangladesh support their families and keep them together.
